8,388 fans watched an exciting game at Polo Grounds. The New York Giants stopped the Brooklyn Dodgers by the slimmest of margins, 8 to 7. 'One things for sure,' said Giants manager Bill Terry. 'That will always be remembered as the greatest catch in center field here at the Polo Grounds. No one will ever top that one.'

New York took the lead off Charlie Perkin in the first inning when they scored 4 runs on 4 hits. The key offensive moment was also provided by Leiber who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he bombed a two-rundinger (his 1st of the season). Overall New York out-hit Brooklyn 12 to 6.
