Vic Sorrell(7-7) had a steady outing. He allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 2 'round-trippers'. Washington had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Firpo Marberry was credited with his 2nd save. Earl Whitehill(13-11) ended up with the loss. 'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it was nothing.' Sorrell said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put the ball where I wanted it.'
