Vic Sorrell completed the game without help from the bullpen at GriffithStadium where the Detroit Tigers beat the Washington Nationals by the score of 8 to 1. Sorrell (2-2) was in control of the game from the outset. He gave up just 4 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings, improving his ERA from 5.68 to 4.46. Detroit banged out 16 on the afternoon. General Crowder (0-2) was charged with the loss. Detroit now has a record of 12-11. Washington has a record of 15-10 after the loss.

Hank Johnson completed the game without help from the bullpen at Fenway Park where the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago White Sox by the score of 11 to 3. Billy Werber had a big day at the plate. He emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his 2nd of the season) in the 4th inning and doubled in the 6th inning. Both teams totaled 11 on the afternoon. Johnson(1-1) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. George Earnshaw (2-3) took the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
