Tigers Win At Fenway, 6-1
Rowe yields only two runs to win 7th game

Schoolboy Rowe completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Detroit Tigers outscored the Boston Red Sox 6 to 2. Rowe(7-2) pitched well for Detroit in their victory. He was reached for 6hits and 4 walks in 9 innings. Detroit managed 12 in their victory. Fritz Ostermueller(1-7) was tagged with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up12 hits and 9 walks in 9 innings.

Thornton Lee had a strong outing and Hal Trosky jacked one out of the ball yard as the Cleveland Indians topped the Philadelphia Athletics by a score of 9 to4 at Shibe Park. Oral Hildebrand(4-5) struggled at times, but was good enough to get the victory. He gave up 4 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings and served up 2 'big flies'. Cleveland had 13 hits for the afternoon while Philadelphia had 5. Hildebrand got help from Lee who was credited with his 1st save. Roy Mahaffey(1-6) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 8 hits and 3 walks in 5and 2/3 innings.

Bonura hits grand slam to give Sox road win

In a tight game it was the Chicago White Sox 6, the Washington Nationals 4 at Griffith Stadium. Zeke Bonura had a big day against Washington. He doubled scoring a run in the3rd inning and depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand slam home run (his 10th of the season) in the 7th inning. Washington had a chance inthe 9th but they came up short. Sam Jones(5-5) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Jones got help from Phil Gallivan who earned his 2nd save. General Crowder(2-4)took the loss. 'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Jimmy Dykes said after the game. 'Jones did not have command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
