the New York Giants by a score of 4 to 3 at Polo Grounds.















Boston scored the deciding run in the top of the 9th inning. Les Mallon drew







a walk. Two outs later Bill Urbanski stepped up to the plate and he slapped







a base-hit scoring the run. Boston banged out 9 on the afternoon.















The win was credited to Flint Rhem(7-6) who went 8 innings allowing 3 runs.

Philadelphia won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Dick







Bartell hit a single. Lou Chiozza stepped up next and he laid down a







sacrifice bunt. One out later, Hack Wilson stepped up to the plate and he







drew a walk. Dolph Camilli was up next and he doubled giving Philadelphia







the victory as 4,453 happy fans celebrated wildly. Despite losing, Brooklyn







out-hit Philadelphia 15 to 10.















The win went to Moore(4-4) who allowed 4 runs in the game. Boom-Boom Beck(4-6)







was the loser in relief. 'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just







get lucky,' Moore said, 'this was one of those times.'

Chick Fullis had 4 hits and scored 3 times as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated







the Chicago Cubs by a score of 14 to 5 at Sportsman's Park.

Fullis led off and started the attack as he doubled. Leo Durocher was next







and he delivered a one-base hit, and an error was also committed, which







scored a run. Bill Walker got his chance to keep things going, but he went







down on strikes. Burgess Whitehead came up and he slapped a single scoring







the final run of the inning. St. Louis bats were hot in the 3rd inning with







5 runs on 5 hits and the 8th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits.







Overall St. Louis out-hit Chicago 20 to 9.















The winning pitcher was Walker(6-3) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings. Bill

surrendering 6 hits and no walks. Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but their







rally came up short.















Red Lucas(6-8) was tagged with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits







and 3 walks in 9 innings. Pie Traynor was subdued after the ballgame, 'That







one really hurts. If our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we







could have won that one. That is what really ticks me off!'
