Cecil Travis jacked one out of the ballyard and had 4 RBI as the Washington



Nationals defeated the Philadelphia Athletics in 10 innings by the score of 9



to 8 at Griffith Stadium.







The score was knotted at 8 after nine innings. Finally, Washington pulled the



game out in the 10th inning. After two were out Travis blasted a solo shot



(his 1st of the season) resulting in an exciting win for Washington and a



wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Washington rapped out 15



hits for the afternoon.







Jack Russell(7-3) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Joe



Cascarella(6-7) was the loser in relief. He pitched 2 and 2/3 innings and



surrendered 2 hits and no walks.
