Roy Pepper had 4 hits and 7 RBI at Sportsman's Park as the St. Louis Browns



embarrassed the Chicago White Sox by the lopsided score of 18 to 1.







Pepper enjoyed a big day at the plate. He lashed a single resulting in a run



in the 1st inning, banged out a one-base hit which was good for two runs in



the 4th inning, bombed a two-run dinger (his 6th of the season) in the 5th



inning and doubled which scored a run in the 7th inning. St. Louis bats were



hot in the 4th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits and the 5th



inning when they had 7 runs on 6 hits. St. Louis had many opportunities



throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.







Dick Coffman(4-7) was the winner allowing 1 run in 8 innings. Milt



Gaston(4-11) was tagged with the loss. His ERA ballooned from 5.76 to 6.21



as he allowed 9 runs in 4 innings.







'The ball was jumping off my bat' Pepper said. 'I didn't do anything



differently, it's the same way I always approach the game.'

George Earnshaw(8-12) absorbed the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 7

Center fielder Sammy West had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Sportsman's Park as the St.







Louis Browns beat the reeling Cleveland Indians in 10 innings 7 to 6.















The score was tied at 6 after nine. St. Louis won the game in the 10th







inning. West lashed a single. Jack Burns came next and he slapped a







base-hit. Burns took second on the throw. Roy Pepper got his turn next, but







he was a strikeout victim. One out later, Rollie Hemsley stepped in and he







laced a one-base hit giving St. Louis the win and sending the home town fans
