Bing Miller who deflated the crowd as he doubled with all three runners







coming home. For the game Philadelphia out-hit Boston 15 to 11.

victory. Gordon Rhodes(6-10) was charged with the loss. His ERA ballooned







from 4.73 to 5.28 as he allowed 8 runs in 1 inning.

Lefty Gomez allowed just 3 hits as the New York Yankees defeated the







Washington Nationals in 10 innings by the score of 4 to 3 at Yankee







Stadium.

contest in the 10th inning. After two outs Babe Ruth drew a walk. Lou







Gehrig stepped up next and he drew a walk. Ben Chapman then lined a single







giving New York the victory as 33,770 happy fans celebrated wildly. New York

Gomez(10-7) finished the game allowing 3 runs in the victory. Bob Kline(3-1)







suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in 1 and 2/3

single. Bill Terry came next and he doubled scoring the run. Brooklyn







threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Smith recorded the save, his 1st. Johnny Babich(0-3) was the losing pitcher.
