Detroit surrendered all of the runs St. Louis needed in the 3rd inning scoring 4 runners on 4 hits. That early run support was enough for Ivy Andrews(2-6) and St. Louis. Overall St. Louis out-hit Detroit 6 to 3. Bobo Newsom earned his 2nd save. Tommy Bridges(8-8) was the loser. He pitched 7 innings and surrendered 5 hits and 7 walks. St. Louis now has a record of 24-45. With this loss, Detroit has a 7-3 record of late, 44-31 overall. The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. New York won the hard fought contest in the 10th inning. After two outs Babe Ruth drew a walk. Lou Gehrig stepped up next and he drew a walk. Ben Chapman then lined a single giving New York the victory as 33,770 happy fans celebrated wildly. New York had a total of 11 hits for the game.
