Schoolboy Rowe(12-5) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't give



up much, just 5 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. Detroit ended up with



15 hits for the game while Chicago had 7.







Milt Gaston(4-12) suffered the loss. He was knocked around by Detroit,



allowing 14 hits and 6 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Sugar Cain pitched a complete game as the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the



ice-cold New York Yankees by a score of 9 to 4 at Yankee Stadium.







Jimmie Foxx had a big day with his bat. He tripled scoring a run in the 5th



inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 39th of the season) in



the 8th inning. Philadelphia totaled 12 on the afternoon.







Cain(11-8) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. The losing



pitcher was Johnny Allen(4-2). He allowed Philadelphia 8 runs in 7 innings



of work.

Cleveland finished with 10 hits in the victory.







Blaeholder(7-12) was the loser. He was unable to control the Cleveland



offense and allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.

Johnson(6-10) put on a good performance. He didn't allow much, just 4 hits



and 5 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 4.10 to 3.87. Cincinnati



finished with 11 hits in the victory.







Pat Malone(9-7) was given the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings and
