Si Johnson hurled a fine complete game shutout as the Cincinnati Reds defeated



the Chicago Cubs by the score of 7 to 0 at Wrigley Field.







Johnson(6-10) put on a good performance. He didn't allow much, just 4 hits



and 5 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 4.10 to 3.87. Cincinnati



finished with 11 hits in the victory.







Pat Malone(9-7) was given the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings and



surrendered 9 hits and 2 walks.

Dizzy Dean was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete



game and left fielder Joe Medwick had 2 base hits at Sportsman's Park where



the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 5 to



1.







St. Louis took the lead off Waite Hoyt in the first inning as they scored 4



runs on 4 base hits. That early scoring was all that Dean(12-8) needed.



After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.







The losing pitcher was Hoyt(7-8). He surrendered 5 runs and 7 hits in 8



innings.
