Fox provided much of the offense. He stroked a single bringing in a run in the 2nd inning, laced a one-base hit scoring a run in the 7th inning and tripled plating two runs in the 8th inning. Detroit bats were very productive in the 8th inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 6 hits. Detroit had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings. Chief Hogsett(5-1) allowed 1 run in 3 innings, and picked up the victory. Hank Johnson(3-3) took the loss. He allowed 17 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings. NEW YORK AT ST. Chicago had 5 runs cross the plate in the top of the 7th inning when they had 7 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Chuck Klein who helped quiet the crowd when he banged out a single bringing in two baserunners. Brooklyn threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Weaver(5-6), allowing 6 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Tom Zachary(3-7) was the loser. He surrendered 5 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings. Ott enjoyed a big day at the plate. He smashed a two-run homer in the 5th inning and bombed a two-run dinger (his 25th of the season) in the 7th inning. New York had 11 hits for the afternoon. For Hubbell(16-5) it was his 8th shutout this year. Paul Dean(8-6) was charged with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 8 innings. 'I thought it was my best performance in a long time,' said Hubbell. 'I had good command early in the game. I had my control and composure and everything went well.'
