In the 5th inning New York went on top for good when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. The key at-bat was by Tamulis who quieted the crowd when he delivered a base-hit scoring two baserunners. Philadelphia threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. The victory was credited to Tamulis(1-0) who went the distance, allowing 3 runs. Joe Cascarella(9-12) suffered the loss. Cleveland had 5 runs cross the plate in the 2nd inning when they had 4 base hits. That early run support was enough for Harder(16-8) and Cleveland. Cleveland rapped out 10 hits for the afternoon. Bump Hadley(10-18) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in 2 innings. Frankhouse(12-15) pitched well for Boston in their victory. He allowed 7 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings. Boston managed 11 in their victory. Ray Benge(14-16) was hit with the loss. He was unable to control the Boston offense and allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. Cavarretta helped send the fans home happy. He belted a three-run homer (his 1st of the season) in the 1st inning, tripled in the 4th inning and singled resulting in a run in the 5th inning. Chicago banged out 10 on the afternoon. The victory went to Bush(14-11) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Whitey Wistert(0-1) was tagged with the loss.
