In a thriller the Detroit Tigers staged a dramatic comeback over the

The win went to Schoolboy Rowe(18-8) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Mort

Flohr(1-4) absorbed the loss in relief. Cochrane was in great spirits in his

counterpart, Connie Mack, feels right now - and it's not very good. It's

terrible when you come up on the short end of one of these!'

Homeruns- C.Grimm(4th), B.Jurges(8th), T.Jackson(14th)

Lon Warneke went 9 strong innings at Polo Grounds where the Chicago Cubs beat

the New York Giants 4 to 2.

Chicago went ahead for good in the 3rd inning plating an isolated run using 3

hits. New York threatened in the 9th but Chicago was able to put down the

rally.

The victory went to Warneke(20-7) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. The

loss was charged to Carl Hubbell(20-8). Bill Terry was subdued after the

ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our guys had simply played more

fundamentally sound, we could have won that one. That is what really ticks

me off!'
