Len Koenecke had 4 hits and scored 3 times as the Brooklyn Dodgers outscored







the Chicago Cubs in 10 innings 7 to 6.















The score was knotted at 6 after nine innings. Brooklyn won the game in the







10th inning. Al Lopez lined a single. Dutch Leonard next to the plate and







he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Koenecke then doubled making Brooklyn







victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Brooklyn banged out 14







on the afternoon.















Leonard(8-3) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Bud







Tinning(5-4) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 5 hits and no walks in







2 and 1/3 innings.

The Boston Braves scored 5 runs in the 8th inning and edged the floundering







Cincinnati Reds at Braves Field by the score of 6 to 5.















Boston came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning







scoring 5 runners on 5 hits. The big moment was provided by Buck Jordan who







excited the crowd when he doubled bringing in two baserunners. Cincinnati







threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.















Flint Rhem(5-5) went 8 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Leo Mangum got







the save, his 4th. Tony Freitas(3-7) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard,







allowing 12 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.















Bill McKechnie was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only







we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not







going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'

2,446 fans were treated to a fine game at Baker Bowl as only one run separated







the combatants at game's end. The Philadelphia Phillies won by the slimmest







of margins, 3 to 2.















The score was tied at 2 after nine. Philadelphia won the game in the 12th







inning. Johnny Moore laced a base-hit. After an out was recorded, Dolph







Camilli stepped up to the plate and he laced a base-knock. Kiddo Davis then







delivered a one-base hit. Andy High was up next and he singled resulting in







an exciting win for Philadelphia and a raucous post-game celebration by the







home town fans. Philadelphia banged out 9 on the afternoon.















The victory went to George Darrow(1-8) who went 3 and 1/3 innings, allowing no







runs. Heinie Meine(3-3) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 4







hits in 1/3 of an inning.

Lefty O'Doul jacked one out of the ballyard as the streaking New York Giants







outscored the St. Louis Cardinals 4 to 2.















New York had 2 runs cross the plate in the 5th inning with the help of 3 hits.







They would hold up as the winning runs. St. Louis made it exciting in the







9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.















Roy Parmelee(4-2) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Carl







Hubbell was credited with his 2nd save. Tex Carleton(12-6) absorbed the







loss. He pitched 8 innings allowing 10 hits and 2 walks.















'This was a tough loss,' said Frankie Frisch, 'the kind that sticks with you







for awhile.'
