Second baseman Charlie Gehringer had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Detroit







Tigers outscored the Boston Red Sox 6 to 4.















Carl Fischer(6-1) had a steady outing. He went 6 innings surrendering 8 hits







and no walks. Detroit finished with 9 hits in the victory.















Fischer got help from Chief Hogsett who was credited with his 8th save. The







loss was charged to Rube Walberg(7-3). He gave up 5 runs and 5 hits in 2/3







of an inning.

Johnny Murphy completed the game without help from the bullpen and Lou Gehrig







had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Sportsman's Park where the New York Yankees beat the







St. Louis Browns 8 to 4.















Gehrig provided the offensive punch. He cleared the fences for a two-run home







run (his 28th of the season) in the 1st inning, hit a single in the 6th







inning, doubled in the 7th inning and doubled plating a run in the 9th







inning. New York had a total of 12 hits for the game.















Murphy(6-6) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 4 runs. George







Blaeholder(7-10) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 2







walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Marcum(10-6) pitched well for Philadelphia in their victory. He went 9







innings surrendering 11 hits and 5 walks. Philadelphia banged out 12 on the







afternoon.















The loss was charged to Monte Pearson(11-7). He allowed 12 hits and 4 walks







in 9 innings.

Jack Russell came through with a solid 5 and two third innings and Fred







Schulte had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Washington Nationals staged a dramatic







comeback over the lifeless Chicago White Sox by a score of 10 to 9 at







Comiskey Park.















Washington had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs using 2 hits.







Cecil Travis started the inning off right when he ripped a base-knock.







Schulte was next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Red Kress dug into the







batters box next, but he struck out. One out later, Fred Sington came to the







plate and drew a walk to load the bases. Buddy Myer stepped into the box and







singled driving home two runs. Myer took second on the throw. Overall







Washington out-hit Chicago 15 to 12.















Russell(5-3) went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Alex McColl







recorded the save, his 7th. Harry Kinzy(0-1) ended up with the loss in
