Ben Chapman smacked 2 triples and had 2 RBI as the New York Yankees beat the
Detroit Tigers by a score of 9 to 4.

New York jumped out to the early lead in the first inning with 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. Frank Crosetti kicked off the action when he doubled.
Jack Saltzgaver stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. Babe Ruth
followed, but he was set down on strikes. After another out, Chapman stepped
in and he tripled scoring two teammates. Bill Dickey came to the plate and
slapped a single scoring the final run of the inning. New York finished with
14 hits while Detroit ended up with 6.

Johnny Broaca(5-1) allowed 4 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory.
Schoolboy Rowe(9-3) was given the loss. He was touched for 13 hits and 4
walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.

Luke Appling had 2 base hits and 6 RBI and George Earnshaw allowed Jimmy Dykes
to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at Comiskey Park where the
Chicago White Sox beat the Philadelphia Athletics by the score of 11 to
5.

The Chicago fans enjoyed the offense provided by Appling. He doubled with all
three runners coming home in the 4th inning and lined a base-hit bringing in
two baserunners in the 5th inning. Chicago finished with 11 hits in the
victory.

The victory went to Earnshaw(6-10) who went the distance allowing 5 runs.
Sugar Cain(9-7) was charged with the loss. He was unable to control the
Chicago offense and allowed 7 hits and 5 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
