Lon Warneke tossed a complete game shutout as the Chicago Cubs ballclub







embarrassed the ice-cold Cincinnati Reds by the count of 10 to

Warneke(15-5) was very good in the win. He gave up just 9 hits and no walks







in 9 innings. Both teams ended up with 9 on the afternoon.















Paul Derringer(7-12) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around pretty







good, giving up 9 runs in 7 innings.

Center fielder Ernie Orsatti had 2 base hits and Dizzy Dean went the distance







as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 2 to







1.















The game was won by St. Louis with a run in the top of the 8th inning. After







two were out Joe Medwick doubled. Rip Collins stepped up to the plate and he







delivered a one-base hit scoring the run. Pittsburgh had a chance in the 9th







but they came up short.















Dean(11-8) allowed 1 run on the game. Waite Hoyt(7-7) was the loser. 'We







didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Pie Traynor said. 'We did what







we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
