The score was tied at 7 after nine. Detroit came out on top in the 10th inning. Ray Hayworth drew a walk. Rowe next to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Pete Fox then drew a walk. Jo-Jo White was up next and he drew a walk to load the bases. Charlie Gehringer stepped into the box and drew a walk scoring the run. A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times. Rowe(15-6), allowing 7 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Joe Mulligan(2-2) was hit with the loss in relief. 'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Rowe said. Cleveland took the lead for good in the top of the 3rd inning scoring 2 runners on 1 hit. The critical plate appearance was by Odell Hale who disappointed the partisan crowd when he delivered a single plating two runs. Cleveland banged out 10 on the afternoon. The winning pitcher was Oral Hildebrand(11-7) who allowed 5 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Hildebrand got help from Lloyd Brown who was credited with his 2nd save. Al Benton(9-10) absorbed the loss. 'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Hildebrand said, 'this was one of those times.' ST.
