Tigers.......... 7 3 3 0 0 1 0 0 - 14 17 0

Win:Rowe(11-3) Loss:Marcum(9-6)

Schoolboy Rowe held Philadelphia to 3 hits and shortstop Billy Rogell had 2

base hits and 3 RBI as the Detroit Tigers crushed the Philadelphia Athletics

14 to 2.

Detroit promptly took the lead in their half of the first as they ripped

Philadelphia for 7 runs on 8 hits. That was all the offense they were to

need. Detroit rapped out 17 hits for the afternoon.

The victory went to Rowe(11-3) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. Johnny

Marcum(9-6) was charged with the loss. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and

surrendered 7 hits and no walks.

Homeruns- H.Trosky(14th)

Moose Solters hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated the

Cleveland Indians in 10 innings by the score of 8 to 7 at League Park.

The score was knotted at 7 after nine innings. Boston came out the victor in

the 10th inning. Max Bishop drew a walk. Billy Werber came next and he

doubled. Belve Bean then uncorked a pitch that was ruled a passed ball

scoring the run. The Cleveland bats were silent in the bottom of the 10th.

The win was credited to Gordon Rhodes(8-10) who went 4 innings allowing 5

runs. Bean(1-4) took the loss in relief. The Boston ballclub's record now

stands at a league leading 52-35. With this loss, Cleveland has a 5-5 record

of late, 42-42 overall.

the New York Yankees by the count of 5 to 1.

Bonura provided much of the offense. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 1st

inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 19th of the season) in the 3rd

inning. Chicago and New York each finished the afternoon with 5 hits.

Jones(7-10) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. Johnny Broaca(5-3)

absorbed the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 8 innings.

runs using 2 hits. Joe Cronin started the inning off right when he slapped a

base-hit. Fred Schulte came to the plate and ripped a base-knock. After an

out was recorded, Luke Sewell came up and he would hit into a fielders choice

scoring a run. Moe Berg followed and he hit a deep fly scoring the final run
