Kiddo Davis cracked a homer and had 2 RBI and Euel Moore allowed Jimmie Wilson
to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Philadelphia Phillies
defeated the Chicago Cubs by the score of 8 to 1 at Baker Bowl.
In the 2nd inning Philadelphia went on top for good scoring a single run on 2
hits. Dolph Camilli smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 7th of the
season). Philadelphia finished with 13 hits in the victory.
The victory went to Moore(2-1) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Pat
Malone(7-6) was the loser. He was touched for 9 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings.

9th.
Schumacher got help from Carl Hubbell who was credited with his 1st save.
Paul Derringer(7-10) was given the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 11 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.

that Tom Zachary(3-6) needed. Neither team managed to score after the 3rd
inning.
Bill Swift(6-5) was the loser. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and surrendered 4
hits and 2 walks.

Braves beat the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings by a score of 3 to 2.
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Boston
pulled the game out in the 10th inning. Smith slapped a single. After
another out, Buck Jordan was the next batter, but he struck out. Wally
Berger then delivered a one-base hit. Hal Lee stepped in and he hit a single
making Boston the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.
