Chicago came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Frenchy Uhalt opened up the rally as he lined a base-hit. Mule Haas stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Al Simmons then stroked a one-base hit scoring a run. Zeke Bonura followed and he lashed a single scoring the final run of the inning. New York proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the 9th. Lyons(3-7) went the distance for the shutout. Danny Macfayden(1-7) suffered the loss. 'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully grim,' noted Jimmy Dykes. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together and turn things around!' The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Finally, Boston pulled the game out in the 14th inning. The crucial at-bat was provided by Rube Walberg who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he laced a base-knock which was good for two runs. Boston bats were hot in the 14th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times. The victory was credited to Walberg(6-1) who went 3 innings, allowing 3 runs. Lloyd Brown(3-6) was the loser in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing 5 hits and 2 walks. Philadelphia had the game winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 5 runners on 5 hits. The key at-bat was by Foxx who thrilled the crowd when he smashed a two-run homer (his 25th of the season). Philadelphia finished with 14 hits in the victory. Benton(6-3) was the winner allowing 4 runs for the game. Elden Auker(6-3) was hit with the loss. He was touched for 14 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. 'That was exciting!,' Foxx said. 'I would have paid money to watch this one.' ST. Burke(4-2) earned his pay with a solid performance for Washington. He surrendered 7 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings. Washington had a total of 10 hits for the game. The losing pitcher was Bump Hadley(3-9). He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings giving up 9 hits and 5 walks.
