Wally Berger hit a homerun and had 3 RBI at Braves Field as the Boston Braves
won in their last at-bat beating the New York Giants by the count of 12 to
11.
Boston scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning. After an out
was recorded, Randy Moore doubled. Hal Lee was a strikeout victim, unable to
help out. Pinky Whitney then slapped a single giving Boston the victory and
sending the 3,938 home-town fans home happy. Despite scoring in 5 separate
innings, New York could not get the win.
Ben Cantwell(4-5) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Al
Smith(2-3) was the loser in relief.

The Philadelphia Phillies tallied 7 runs in the 8th inning and had very little
trouble at Ebbetts Field downing the Brooklyn Dodgers. The score was 11 to
4.
Brooklyn was unable to overcome the big offensive rally by Philadelphia in the
8th inning as they erupted for 7 runs on 8 hits. Philadelphia finished with
18 hits while Brooklyn ended up with 7.
Syl Johnson(2-2) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Bill Lohrman
earned the save, his 1st. Tom Zachary(1-6) took the loss in relief. He gave
up 3 hits and 1 walk without retiring a batter.

Lon Warneke tossed a complete game at Wrigley Field where the Chicago Cubs
beat the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings 4 to 3.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Finally, Chicago pulled the game out in
the 10th inning. Babe Herman* doubled. Kiki Cuyler stepped up next and he
doubled resulting in a mighty exciting win for Chicago and the 11,928 home
town fans in attendance. Chicago had 12 hits for the afternoon.
Warneke(13-2) allowed 3 runs on the game. Dazzy Vance(2-3) was given the loss
in relief. He gave up 1 run and 3 hits in 1 inning.
