Bridges(8-7) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't allow much, just 5 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 3.30. Detroit banged out 12 on the afternoon. Lloyd Brown(3-7) was the loser. He was touched for 9 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. Cleveland never recovered after Detroit took the lead in the 4th inning plating an isolated run on 3 hits. Detroit managed 13 in their victory. Auker(7-3) got the victory, allowing 3 runs for the game. Bob Weiland(7-5) suffered the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 13 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings. New York drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning when they scored 3 runs on 4 hits. That early scoring was all that Gomez(9-7) needed. New York rapped out 8 hits for the afternoon. Fritz Ostermueller(2-8) was hit with the loss. He allowed 5 runs and 6 hits in 7 innings. Stone was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He doubled in the 1st inning, doubled scoring a run in the 3rd inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 3rd of the season) in the 5th inning and doubled in the 7th inning. Washington out-hit Philadelphia for the game, 16 hits to 10. The win was credited to Tommy Thomas(4-3) who went 7 innings allowing 6 runs. Thomas got help from Jack Russell who earned his 3rd save. Bill Dietrich(6-2) took the loss. He surrendered 10 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. 'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Thomas said, 'this was one of those times.'
