Tommy Bridges was able to finish what he started and was credited with acomplete game as the Detroit Tigers topped the Cleveland Indians by a scoreof 2 to 1 at Navin Field. Detroit drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inningplating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded,Mickey Cochrane lined a base-hit. Goose Goslin got his chance to keep thingsgoing, but he went down on strikes. Charlie Gehringer then hit a single.Oral Hildebrand then threw one that got by the catcher for a passed ballscoring the run. Detroit managed only 6 on the afternoon. The winning pitcher was Bridges(5-5) who allowed 1 run for the game. Thelosing pitcher was Hildebrand(3-5). He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.

At Griffith Stadium the Washington Nationals outscored the PhiladelphiaAthletics 5 to 2. Washington tallied 2 runs in the 2nd inning. Bobby Burke pitched a perfectninth to earn his 1st save. Earl Whitehill(9-2) was the winner allowing 2runs in 7 innings. Sugar Cain(5-5) was the loser. Washington now has a record of a league leading 28-19. Still in a bad slump,with this loss, Philadelphia is 2-8 lately and 23-21 on the year.

Milt Gaston went the distance at Comiskey Park where the Chicago White Sox beat the St. Louis Browns by the score of 7 to 3. Chicago started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the first when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits. Chicago had a total of 8 hits for the game. Gaston(4-3) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. The losing pitcher was Bobo Newsom (3-4). He surrendered 8 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings.
