The sizzling Brooklyn Dodgers edged the Boston Braves in 11 innings at Ebbetts Field by the score of 6 to 5. Both teams were tied at 5 runs a piece after nine innings after the Dodgers tied it in the bottom of the 9th. Brooklyn then won thehard fought contest in the 11th inning.

Joe Stripp slapped a single, and an error was also committed. Al Lopez came to the plate and laid down a sacrifice bunt. Johnny Frederick then banged out a single resulting in an exciting win for Brooklyn and a wild post-game celebration by the home townfans. Brooklyn rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.

Dizzy Dean went 9 strong innings and Joe Medwick had 3 base hits as the St.Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 3 to 0 atSportsman's Park. St. Louis jumped on top to stay in the 2nd inning scoring a single run. That early scoring held up. St. Louis took care of Pittsburgh with no trouble inthe 9th. It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Dean(4-7). Heinie Meine (2-2) was the loser. 'Dean pitched a gem of a game', Pie Traynor recounted. 'He kept ourbatters off balance the entire game.'
