Carl Hubbell (pictured) blanked St. Louis in a very well-pitched complete game and Mel Ott homered and had 2 RBI as the New York Giants outscored the St. Louis Cardinals 2 to 0. Hubbell (8-0) pitched a solid game. He went 9 innings allowing 10 hits and no walks. Although they lost, St. Louis did out-hit New York 10 to 5. Dizzy Dean(2-6) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered only 2 runs and 5 hits in 7 innings.

Lon Warneke (pictured) tossed a complete game as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers 2 to 1 at Ebbetts Field. Chicago had 1 run cross the plate in the 5th inning. Brooklyn threatened in the 9th but Chicago was able to put down the rally. Warneke(6-1) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Van LingleMungo (3-6) was the loser. 'He gutted it out' Charlie Grimm said of Warneke. 'I was very impressed by his tenacity.'

Wally Berger had 2 base hits as the Boston Braves defeated the Cincinnati Reds in 15 innings by the score of 2 to 1 at Braves Field. The score was tied at 1 after nine. Boston came out the victor in the 15thinning. Berger ripped a base-knock. Two outs later Pinky Whitney came to the plate and reached on an error. Shanty Hogan then reached on an error, making Boston victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Despite losing, Cincinnati out-hit Boston 12 to 9.
Bob Brown (1-1) (pictured) allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Joe Shaute (1-3) was given the loss in relief. It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 and 2/3 innings of work. With this win, Boston has a 9-18 record. They have been 4-6 lately. With the loss, the Cincinnati ballclub's record is 8-19.

Harvey Hendrick (pictured) hit 2 doubles and had 4 RBI at Baker Bowl as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 9 to 2. Philadelphia started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their halfof the first with 3 runs using 2 hits.
Dick Bartell started the inning offright when he laced a base-hit, and an error was also committed. After an out was recorded, Ethan Allen stepped up to the plate and he reached on an error. Hendrick then reached on an error which scored a run. Don Hurst was up next and he delivered a one-base hit to load the bases. Mickey Haslin stepped into the box and drew a walk scoring one more run. Lou Chiozza added his contribution to the rally and hit a deep fly scoring the final run of theinning. That scoring would be all that was needed. For the gamePhiladelphia out-hit Pittsburgh 11 to 6.
