Cardinals Defeat Braves in Boston, 6-4
A 4 run sixth and then late runs seal victory

Tex Carleton completed the game without help from the bullpen as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Boston Braves by the score of 6 to 4 at Braves Field.
St. Louis won the game with a run in the 8th inning. Burgess Whitehead doubled. Jack Rothrock came next and he slapped a base-hit scoring the run. St. Louis managed 8 in their victory. The winning pitcher was Carleton (3-2) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Ed Brandt(2-4) was given the loss. With this win, St. Louis has a 16-12 record.They have been 6-4 lately. With the loss, the Boston ballclub's record is 8-18.

Tony Cuccinello (pictured) had 3 base hits and 4 RBI at Ebbetts Field where the Brooklyn Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 11 to 8.
Pittsburgh fell behind quickly as the Brooklyn offense came through in the first inning when they tallied 6 runs on 6 hits. The key at-bat was by Al Lopez who brought the crowd to their feet when he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 3rd of the season). Pittsburgh scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory. Ray Benge (5-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 7 runs. Red Lucas (2-2) suffered the loss. Brooklyn now has a record of 15-11. Pittsburgh has a record of 13-11 after the loss.

Hal Schumacher tossed a complete game as the New York Giants topped the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 4 to 2 at Polo Grounds. Schumacher(4-2) gave New York a solid outing. He didn't give up much, just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings, lowering his ERA from 4.20 to 3.90. New York finished with 7 hits in the victory, two each for shortstop Hughie Critz (pictured) and third baseman Blondy Ryan. Don Brennan(2-1) absorbed the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings
Phillies Prevail Over Cubs at Baker Bowl

Phil Collins tossed a complete game and center fielder Ethan Allen hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies topped the Chicago Cubs by a score of 5 to 2 at Baker Bowl. Collins (3-3) had a solid outing for Philadelphia. He was reached for 10 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 4.39 to 3.96. After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score. Bud Tinning(2-1) was charged with the loss. The Philadelphia ballc lub's record now stands at 10-15. With the loss, the Chicago ballclub's record is 19-11.
