Si Johnson went the distance at Braves Field as the Cincinnati Reds beat the
Boston Braves in 10 innings by the count of 7 to 5.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Cincinnati won the
hard fought contest in the 10th inning. Gordon Slade kicked off the action
when he ripped a base-knock. After an out was recorded, Jim Bottomley
stepped in and he tripled bringing in a run. Chick Hafey then worked the
squeeze play to perfection scoring the final run of the inning. Cincinnati
managed 11 in their victory.

Johnson(8-14) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 5 runs. Leo
Mangum(3-4) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 4 hits and no
walks in 4 innings.

'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Johnson said.

Hal Schumacher pitched a complete game as the phenomenal New York Giants beat
the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 9 to 3.

The game started off with New York taking the lead in the first as they scored
2 runs on 3 base hits. New York finished with 12 hits in the victory.

Schumacher(17-10) finished the game allowing 3 runs in the victory. The loss
was charged to Bill Walker(11-5). He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 3
walks in 6 innings.
