Sox Score Big Comeback Against Tigers
Visitors cap 4 run 8th with extra inning win; Rowe drops first game

The Detroit Tigers appeared to be cruising towards their 19th win of the season after 7 innings today. Up 4-0, with Schoolboy Rowe throwing a shut out, the Tigers may have gotten too comfortable. The Red Sox scored 4 times in the 8th to send the game to extra innings.
In the 11th inning for Boston. Dusty Cooke drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Lyn Lary stepped up to the plate and he lined a single scoring the run.
Boston had 8 hits for the afternoon. Rube Walberg(3-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 4 innings and allowingn o runs. Schoolboy Rowe(4-1) was the loser. He pitched 10 innings giving up 7 hits and 5 walks.

Earle Combs had 4 hits at Sportsman's Park where the red-hot New York Yankees beat the St. Louis Browns in 11 innings 6 to 5.
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. New York came out the victor in the 11th inning. Art Jorgens laced a single. One out later, Burleigh Grimes stepped in and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Combs then doubled scoring the run.
New York banged out 11 on the afternoon. Grimes (1-0) allowed no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Jimmie Deshong earned the save, his 1st. Ed Wells (0-4) ended up with the loss in relief. This win by New York continues their recent hot streak. In their last tengames, they have a record of 8-2. For the season, they are 18-16. St. Louis can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last couple weeks.

Lloyd Brown completed the game without help from the bullpen as the ClevelandIndians man-handled the Philadelphia Athletics - the final score was 11 to1. It was a good day for Cleveland thanks to Odell Hale. He doubled plating tworuns in the 1st inning and bombed a two-run dinger (his 2nd of the season) inthe 3rd inning. Cleveland had 13 hits for the afternoon. Brown(1-3) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. RoyMahaffey(0-4) was given the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 7 runsin 2 and 1/3 innings.
Manush, Nats Take Care of Business in Chicago

Monte Weaver was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at Comiskey Park as the Washington Nationals beat the ChicagoWhite Sox by the count of 7 to 2.
Heinie Manush went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles, knocking in 4 of the Nationals' 7 runs.
Weaver(4-4) gave Washington a solid outing. He was reached for 8 hits and 1walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 4.11 to 3.82. Washington finishedwith 14 hits in the victory. Sam Jones(2-5) was hit with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 11 hits and3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
