Lefty Gomez went the distance at Navin Field as the New York Yankees beat the

Detroit Tigers 9 to 1.

New York set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring 5 runners on 5

hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. New York rapped out 12

hits for the afternoon.

The win was credited to Gomez(23-9) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.

General Crowder(6-8) ended up with the loss. He pitched 1 inning giving up 5

hits and 4 walks. Boston threatened in the 9th but St. Louis was able to put

down the rally.

George Hockette(0-1) was charged with the loss. He pitched 8 innings and
