June 11th, 1934 - How're They Doin? - George Grantham

Grantham's in his last year in baseball after a 13 year NL career. After playing in Chicago, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, he'll see very limited playing time with the Giants. Although he slumped last year, he's hit significantly better than average every year in the league since he was a rookie, with his best year in 1929. He'll see a little more action this year, but not much.

June 1st, 1934 - How're They Doin'? - Lefty Grove

In 1934, Grove suffered the only "off year" during his career. He had just joined the Red Sox, having spent his entire career to date (1925-1933) with the A's. During the spring of 1934, the Red Sox discovered Grove had a sore arm that would haunt him for the season. After 1934, Grove returned to dominant form, and pitched for Boston until 1941.
