The Cleveland fans didn't appreciate the big day Greenberg had. He doubled in the 1st inning, cracked a two-run shot in the 2nd inning and cracked a solo homerun (his 18th of the season) in the 6th inning. Detroit bats were very productive in the 2nd inning with 6 runs on 6 hits. Detroit totaled 25 on the afternoon. Bridges(13-15) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Oral Hildebrand(11-9) was given the loss. With this win, Detroit has a 71-56 record. They have been 7-3 lately. Cleveland has a record of 62-62 after the loss. Johnny Welch(11-7) got the win allowing 3 runs in 7 innings. Herb Pennock gained credit for his 7th save. Whitey Wilshere(2-1) was the losing pitcher. Boston scored big getting 6 runs off him in 5 and 1/3 innings. Leonard(11-4) gave Brooklyn a solid outing. He gave up just 8 hits and no walks in 9 innings. Brooklyn had a total of 9 hits for the game. Hal Schumacher(14-10) was the loser. He pitched 7 innings giving up 7 hits and 1 walk. ST.
