New York had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning. After two outs Babe Ruth opened up the rally as he drew a walk. Lou Gehrig stepped up next and he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 43rd of the season). Although they lost, Boston did out-hit New York 10 to 5. Johnny Murphy(12-8) went 8 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Murphy got help from Danny Macfayden who earned his 1st save. Spike Merena(0-1) was the loser. He surrendered 4 runs and 5 hits in 8 innings.
