Averill enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 36th of the season) in the 1st inning, doubled in the 4th inning, doubled in the 5th inning and banged out a single in the 9th inning. Cleveland managed 18 in their victory. Hildebrand(13-10), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Hugo Klaerner(0-2) was the loser. He served up 3 homeruns in his 5 innings. 'Hildebrand took our guys to school' Jimmy Dykes said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch for us - it would make my job a whole lot easier!' DETROIT AT ST. Bridges(17-15) pitched a fine game. He surrendered 7 hits and 7 walks in 9 innings. Detroit bats were hot in the 6th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits. White had a big day with his bat. He lined a single which was good for two runs in the 2nd inning, doubled scoring two baserunners in the 5th inning and laced a base-knock scoring a run in the 7th inning. Detroit provided plenty of action in the 2nd inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits, the 5th inning when they had 4 runs on 4 hits and the 7th inning when they had 4 runs on 3 hits.
