Leo Mangum(3-3) and Van Lingle Mungo(9-19) treated the Boston fans to a fine

pitching duel at Braves Field. The Boston Braves eventually emerged as

victors over the Brooklyn Dodgers by the score of 3 to 1.



Brooklyn was unable to recover after Boston went ahead in the 2nd inning

plating an isolated run. Boston had only 6 hits for the afternoon.



Mangum got help from Bob Smith who earned his 9th save.

Ethan Allen had 2 base hits and Curt Davis was able to finish what he started

and was credited with a complete game at Baker Bowl where the Philadelphia

Phillies beat the New York Giants in 11 innings 3 to 2.



The score was tied at 2 after nine. Philadelphia ended up winning it in the

11th inning. Davis doubled. Two outs later Allen stepped up to the plate

and he doubled resulting in an exciting win for Philadelphia and a wild

post-game celebration by the home town fans. Philadelphia managed 13 in

their victory.



Davis(12-11) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Al Smith(3-7) was

tagged with the loss in relief. He gave up 5 hits and 1 walk in 3 and 2/3

innings.

Fred Fitzsimmons shut down the Philadelphia batters on just 3 hits as the

phenomenal New York Giants defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 3 to 0 at Baker

Bowl.



Fitzsimmons(21-7) was simply too much for the Philadelphia batters. He didn't

give up much, just 3 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. New York finished with

11 hits in the victory.



The losing pitcher was Euel Moore(6-7). New York now has a record of 78-52.

With this loss, Philadelphia has a 4-6 record of late, 55-71 overall.
