Win:Pearson(15-11) Loss:Fischer(6-2)

Homeruns- H.Greenberg(16th), H.Trosky(19th)

Hal Trosky connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI at League Park where the

Cleveland Indians beat the Detroit Tigers by the score of 13 to 7.

The Cleveland fans enjoyed the offense provided by Trosky. He slapped a

one-base hit which scored a run in the 3rd inning, doubled in the 5th inning

and smashed a two-run homer (his 19th of the season) in the 6th inning.

Cleveland ended up with 15 hits for the game while Detroit had 12.

The victory was credited to Monte Pearson(15-11) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,

allowing 7 runs. The losing pitcher was Carl Fischer(6-2). He gave up 7 runs

in 4 and 1/3 innings of work.

Win:Gomez(19-9) Loss:Weaver(9-11)

Lefty Gomez had a strong outing as the New York Yankees defeated the

Washington Nationals by the score of 1 to 0 at Yankee Stadium.

The game was decided in the bottom of the 8th inning. After two outs Babe

Ruth tripled. Lou Gehrig was next and he slapped a base-hit scoring the run.

Washington had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

For Gomez(19-9) it was his 2nd shutout this year. Monte Weaver(9-11) took the

loss. 'This was a tough loss,' said Joe Cronin, 'the kind that sticks with

you for awhile.'
