Fred Lindstrom blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI at Forbes Field where the







red-hot Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Braves by the score of 10 to







8.















Burleigh Grimes(1-1) struggled but was good enough to win with the help of







some fine defensive plays. He gave up 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3







innings. Despite losing, Boston out-hit Pittsburgh 17 to 13.















Leon Chagnon gained credit for his 8th save. Ed Brandt(9-14) was the loser.







He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits and 4 walks in 7 innings.















For Pittsburgh, the victory kept their winning streak on the march.

Rip Collins homered and Paul Dean was able to finish what he started and was







credited with a complete game at Sportsman's Park where the St. Louis







Cardinals beat the floundering Brooklyn Dodgers 6 to 3.















Brooklyn never recovered after St. Louis took the lead in the 6th inning







scoring 2 runs on 2 hits. Joe Medwick opened up the inning nicely when he







stroked a base-hit. Collins stepped up next and he stroked a one-base hit.







Bill Delancey then drew a walk to load the bases. Ernie Orsatti followed and







he drew a walk scoring a run. Leo Durocher came to the plate and hit a







sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. St. Louis rapped out 10







hits for the afternoon.















Dean(11-7) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. The loss was







charged to Ray Benge(11-15). St. Louis continued on their recent roll, their







winning streak now reaching 6 games and counting.

The Philadelphia Phillies edged the Cincinnati Reds in 11 innings at Crosley







Field by the score of 9 to 8.















The score was knotted at 8 after nine innings. Philadelphia came out the







victor in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Lou Chiozza delivered







a single. Chiozza was safe at second on a stolen base. One out later,







Johnny Moore stepped up to the plate and he was walked intentionally. Dolph







Camilli was up next and he slapped a one-base hit scoring the run.







Philadelphia had 14 hits for the afternoon.















George Darrow(2-9) got the win allowing no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings. Darrow







got help from Bill Lohrman who earned his 3rd save. The losing pitcher was







Don Brennan(6-3) in relief. He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3







innings.

Euel Moore completed the game without help from the bullpen and Kiddo Davis







collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies







destroyed the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 12 to 2 at Crosley

Cincinnati fell behind quickly as the Philadelphia offense came through in the







first inning when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits. Philadelphia lit up the







scoreboard in the 5th inning which saw them plate 7 runs on 7 hits.







Philadelphia had a total of 20 hits for the game.















Moore(6-6) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Benny







Frey(4-15) absorbed the loss. He gave up 10 runs in 4 innings of work.

16,556 fans watched an exciting game at Wrigley Field. The Chicago Cubs







topped the New York Giants by the slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.















Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Chicago came out on







top in the 11th inning. After two were out Charlie Grimm drew a walk. Woody







English came next and he reached on an error. Chuck Klein then lined a







one-base hit making Chicago the victor and beginning a joyous home town







celebration. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead







changed hands 5 times.















The winning pitcher was Lon Warneke(18-7) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3







innings. Al Smith(3-5) was charged with the loss in relief. He pitched 2 and







2/3 innings giving up 4 hits and 2 walks.
